Drusy is a naturally occurring gemstone with a textured crystal surface. This stone comes in many colors and from all of over world as it is created by micro-crystals forming on a matrix. Some of the natural colored drusys are green uvarovite garnet from Russia, pink cobalto calcite from the Congo, hemimorphite zinc, black psilomelane, rainbow hematite and rainbow pyrite drusy. While not a naturally occurring color, the titanium coated drusys, as featured here, are incredibly striking.
The quality of a drusy is dependent upon a few key items, such as color saturation, crystal size, purity or any visible flaws and crystal coverage. Larimar is a rare stone found only in the Dominican Republic. Because it is only found in the Dominican Republic, larimar is difficult to find outside of the Caribbean.
Many times the coloration will be light or deep blues and white, though sometimes it can be a green-blue color. The quality grade of larimar is determined by the coloration; the deeper blues and more intense contrasts 0f whites, the higher the quality.
